Telford woman fined after dog fouls woodland pathway

Telford magistrates heard that Celia Joy Barry, of Manor Road, Arleston, was spotted on January 20 at the entrance to Apley Woods.

The court was told Ms Barry parked outside the entrance to Apley Woods. Ms Barry opened the rear tailgate of the car and her dog got out and went down the path to Apley Woods.

Approximately six feet from the entrance, the dog fouled the verge next to the tarmac pathway. Ms Barry made no attempt to pick up the foul. There was a waste bin approximately 10 yards from the location.

The offence was reported to Telford & Wrekin Council’s Environmental Enforcement team.

A fixed penalty notice for £50 was issued but Ms Barry failed to respond despite repeated reminders.

Telford Magistrates today found the case proven in Ms Barry’s absence and fined her £440 and ordered her to pay full costs of £300 as well as a £15 victim surcharge.
