The assault took place at the site in Tan Bank at around 11.15pm yesterday. The security guard – aged in his 20’s – was on routine patrol when he spotted an unknown male on the site. The man ran away so the security guard gave chase.

Moments later the suspect stopped running and turned around and assaulted the security guard, punching him to the stomach.

Police were called and carried out a thorough search of the area, including the use of a police dog but the suspect had fled the area.

The security guard was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital to be checked over. He had been severely winded and was later discharged.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “Initially the security guard saw one male acting suspiciously on the site but following the assault, another two males were spotted on the site leaving the area with the suspect.

“Police are appealing for information and want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident.”

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft tall, of muscular build with a shaven head. He was wearing a grey jumper and blue jeans.
