The event from 12 noon to 3pm will highlight the positive work that is being done to make Malinslee a safer and more pleasant place to live and also promote new facilities that are being planned at the local centre.
The council is being joined by partners include West Mercia Police, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and NHS Telford and Wrekin at the event at the Old Park School in Malinslee.
Shaun Davies, chairman of Great Dawley Parish Council which covers Malinslee and is supporting the event, said: “There are lots of good things happening in the Malinslee area and the idea of the event in May is to communicate that to the community.
“Crime is falling, quality local facilities are coming back to Malinslee and we aim to show how different agencies such as the council and the emergency services are working closely together to achieve the best for Malinslee and its people.â€
The announcement of the event comes as Telford & Wrekin Council’s estates and investments team submitted a planning application for retail units, a play area and a multi use games area as part of the ongoing Malinslee redevelopment.
The application includes three single storey retail units with an adjacent car park with 37 spaces, including four disabled. Uses will include a 3,000 square ft store (replacing the old Spar), a hairdressers and a chip shop with a dedicated secure, service yard.
The new plans aimed at regenerating the centre of Malinslee will also include CCTV and lighting.
Subject to planning permission being granted, it is expected work will begin in the summer and be finished by the end of the year.
