Leonard Parton, of Upper Galdeford, spoke in court only to confirm his name and address.
The 71-year-old is charged with the attempted murder of Rosemary Ann Parton following an incident in which she was stabbed with a knife sustaining serious neck, face and shoulder injuries.
The incident occurred in Church Stretton last Thursday 19 May. Mr Parton was arrested shortly after in a nearby car park, he suffered knife wounds to his neck.
Mr Parton, will appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on May 31.
He was remanded in custody until next Tuesday’s court appearance.
