The incident involving a man and a woman, who both sustained serious injuries, took place at around 2.45pm today.

The woman was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance and the man was airlifted to hospital.

West Mercia Police say no-one else is being sought in connection with the incident.

Police have cordoned off the area and appealed for witnesses to contact Ludlow or Shrewsbury police stations on 0300 333 3000.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the man attack the woman before stabbing himself with the knife.
