Working with Telford & Wrekin Council, Bellway Homes and the Homes & Communities Agency, the Trust is planning to redevelop and further enhance the Woodside area.
A detailed planning application has been submitted by The Wrekin Housing Trust to develop Woodside Centre to include 13 brand new two-bedroom apartments and eight two-bedroom houses for rent, as well as a small supermarket and hairdresser and beauty salon, with parking and gardens for the new residents. The new Woodside Centre will be located near the Park Lane Centre and Parkwood, the Trust’s extra care scheme in Woodside. The council is providing grant funding to enable the scheme to progress and it is hoped that work will start in August this year and be completed the following summer.
The council will also be demolishing 40 properties in Wildwood, 12 of which are owned by the Trust, to be replaced with 21 two and three-bedroom houses, once grant funding has been secured.
As well as these developments, the Trust is working in partnership with Bellway Homes and will be providing 14 new affordable homes on The Pastures development in Woodside, which backs onto the Parkwood Extra Care site. Six of these will be bungalows, two of which have been built so that they are accessible to people in wheelchairs. The remainder will be two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom houses. The Pastures site will provide nearly 200 new homes in total. The Trust’s first homes on this development will be available in July.
Jean Teichmann, Head of Development at The Wrekin Housing Trust said of the plans: “This is the next phase in the regeneration of Woodside and we are thrilled that the funding is now in place to allow the Woodside Centre to progress, and provide these much needed new homes and shops.â€
