Fire-fighters tackle fire at Catherton Common

Crews from Cleobury Mortimer, Bewdley, Tenbury, Kidderminster, Ludlow, Telford, Tweedale, Bridgnorth, Newport and Church Stretton all attended to tackle the fire involving 4.5 hectares.

The fire was reported at 14.20 yesterday afternoon, crews tackled the blaze until around 4.30pm.

Catherton Common located in the Clee Hills, south-east Shropshire was bought by Shropshire Wildlife Trust in 2009 with support from its members and other supporters who donated over £40,000. The common was purchased for a total of £125,000 for the 527-acre site.
