Witnesses appeal following assault in Leegomery

Sometime between 3.30pm and 3.45pm the victim, a 43-year-old man, was stood close to the pool with a friend when a man pulled up alongside them in a car. The man got out of the car and a verbal exchange took place between him and the victim.

The exchange developed into a physical altercation until several people intervened to stop the fight. The man then got back into his car and drove off in the direction of Hadley.

A police spokesman said:

“During this altercation the victim felt to the ground having been hit by the man and this caused bruising to his shoulder. He did not require medical treatment at the time however.

“Although there were a number of people around at the time of this incident, investigating officers are keen to speak to any further witnesses that may have seen what happened, or who may know why the altercation took place.

“A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault following this incident and he has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
