Jean Eccleston, of Nesscliffe, died in January and her husband Paul decided to ask for donations to be made to the Urology Trust Fund at her funeral.
Paul and Jean had supported the fund for a number of years after Paul was successfully treated at the hospital. In 2009 Jean asked guests to make donations to the fund rather than bringing presents to her 60th birthday celebrations, and the couple managed to raise £1,000.
Paul said Jean had been very passionate about supporting the department at the hospital and he was grateful for all the support they had been shown.
Mr Naing Lynn, consultant urological surgeon at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, said: “This is a very generous donation and we are grateful for all the support we have received from Paul and Jean Eccleston.â€
A cheque for £1,700 was presented to representatives from the hospital in the new Treatment Centre.
