Young people train as mystery shoppers to improve health services

The young people have undertaken training in communication, improvisation, assessment and evaluation.

They are now visiting pharmacies and health drop in services across Telford and Wrekin to assess how “young people friendly” the services are.

The young people have achieved their 50 hour Vinspired Volunteer Awards, a 30 hour ASDAN (the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) Volunteering award and been presented with certificates from the Integrated Youth Support Team.

The project is funded by NHS Telford and Wrekin and delivered by Telford & Wrekin Council’s Integrated Youth Support Team.

Clive Jones, Telford & Wrekin Council’s head of Family and Community Services, said: “This is an excellent project aimed at improving how services are delivered to young people.

“It is using the insight of young people themselves to assess how suitable services are for them while at the same time helping with their own personal development.

“It’s all very positive because it will ultimately mean we can use the feedback from the young people to improve the services we provide and they will also gain much from the experience.”
