The Yanmar V1055 tracked excavator digger, has transfers on it saying “Wilde’s Plant Hire.” It was stolen overnight (March 10/11) from the site near the Elephant and Castle pub.

Investigating officer, Police Constable Lyn Downes has appealed for witnesses to contact her at Wem police station on 0300-333-3000. Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800-555-111.

She said the digger would have had to be loaded onto another vehicle as it is fitted with tracks and has no wheels. “This would have taken some time with considerable noise.

“It could be that someone saw it being taken and thought it was being moved by genuine contractors. I would urge people to come forward if they did see an excavator being moved during the night.”
