Thieves forced their way into the Co-Op in Trench at around 1.20am this morning. The offenders forced the front shutters before entering the premises in Wombridge Road.
While inside, the thieves removed a large amount of cigarettes after attacking another secure area within the premises.
Police attended the incident but offenders had left the scene.
An investigation is underway and officers are appealing to members of the public for their help in catching those responsible.
A Telford Police spokeswoman said: “The scene has been secured and scenes of crime officers will be carrying out their investigations today.
“We will also be examining CCTV.
“It is understood the offenders left the premises on a scrambler bike, which was white and red in colour.
“Both offenders were wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms and trainers. One of the offenders had a distinctive diamond pattern on the back of his top.
“Police are investigating the burglary and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
“It is highly likely that offenders will try and sell the cigarettes, so if you are offered any cigarettes for sale in suspicious circumstances or if you recognise the offenders or the bike from the description given, please come forward.â€
