Shropshire Residents Named in New Year Honours List

Roger Leslie Wilson from Church Stretton is honoured with a CBE. Mr Wilson, the founder of the Sarcoma UK Charity was honoured for services to Healthcare. He has had five cancer diagnoses in 10 years and set up Sarcoma UK in 2003 to support sarcoma patients with a rare form of connective tissue cancer.

Paul Francis Harris from Shrewsbury, the Operations Director at Makita Manufacturing Europe Ltd is honoured with an OBE for services to International Trade.

Mrs Bronwen Evans who lives in Minsterley is honoured for services to the Minsterley and District Eisteddfod and to the community with an OBE.

Mrs Paula Audrey Holden is awarded an OBE for services to the community in Wellington.

Ms Jean Jarvis from Ludlow and the Chief Executive of the South Shropshire Furniture Scheme is awarded an MBE for services to Social Enterprise. The South Shropshire Furniture Scheme is a dynamic social enterprise and charity, with its own carpentry workshop and diverse training programmes. The scheme distributes furniture to people in need and help improve the life of the disadvantaged.

Keith Robert Mansell from Shrewsbury is also honoured with an OBE for services to Gliding.
