The blaze broke out at The Beaten Track on Old Potts Way in Shrewsbury just after 10pm last night.

Around ten people in the building at the time were evacuated to safety as a precaution.

A Shropshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “The fire broke out in roof space which cause some damage to the front roof of the building.”

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault although fire officers are still investigating the cause. It’s understood that the interior of the building was not damaged.

The pub is expected to remain closed until the damage costing thousand of pounds can be repaired.
