Steven Churchill, 51, of Stephenson Drive, Shrewsbury, appeared charged with the murder of Jane Francis Edwards whose body was found in her flat at Caradoc View, Hanwood on Tuesday evening.

Churchill, spoke only to confirm his name and address and was remanded in custody. A hearing will take place at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Tuesday.

In a separate case, 58-year-old, Brian Woodmass, of Orchard Street, Oswestry, appeared before magistrates charged with murder of Jill Nevitt who was found dead at the address they shared in Orchard Street, Oswestry on Tuesday.

He was also remanded in custody and with his case also being heard at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Tuesday.
