New traffic layout planned for junction with safety concerns

The work forms part of the Council’s £14 million investment this year to improve roads across the borough.

The Council will be implementing a junction improvement at the St George’s Road/ Wrockwardine Wood Way junction, by installing traffic lights which will make it easier for vehicles to pull out of St Georges Road on to Wrockwardine Wood Way in Donnington.

This will address long standing concerns for traffic using this junction including the Arriva bus that runs from St Georges to Donnington and will also improve safety for pedestrians and better manage the flow of traffic from the nearby superstore.

The Council will be contacting local residents before work starts in March to provide information about this.

Cllr Adrian Lawrence, cabinet member for Environment, said: “This is part of the wider £14 million investment programme of improvements across the borough’s roads during the year.

“This should not only address safety issues that the public have raised with us  but also help traffic at this junction.”

One of the Council’s priorities is improve roads, footpaths and transport links to help you get around more easily.
