A £3.5m primary school that has been built as a joint venture between Telford & Wrekin Council, Bournville Village Trust and the Homes and Communities Agency will be officially opened next Monday.

Bournville Village Trust chairman Roger Cadbury will cut a ribbon to officially declare the new Lightmoor Village Primary School open after being introduced by Telford & Wrekin Council Chief Executive Victor Brownlees.

Mr Cadbury will also be unveiling a special plaque on the wall of the entrance to the school to mark the occasion before being presented with a gift by the pupils of the school.

The building of the school forms part of the work of the new Housing and Regeneration Board established between Telford & Wrekin Council and the Homes and Communities Agency and is also part of the council’s Borough Towns Initiative programme of regeneration.

The new school is also an integral part of Bournville Village Trust’s vision to build 800 new homes at Lightmoor with a range of facilities which also include a Community Centre, shops, and Extra Care housing for older people and a number of play facilities and open space.

The Lightmoor project is a joint venture between Bournville Village Trust and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The 210 pupil school opened its doors at the start of the autumn term and Monday’s event marks the official opening.
