A two year old dog has survived a 110ft fall down a disused mineshaft near Minsterley.

The pet was being taken for a walk by owner Shaun Panter yesterday afternoon when it fell down the shaft landing in a foot of water at the bottom.

The dog managed to swim and crawl onto a small ledge where it was rescued in a joint operation by the RSPCA, Shropshire Fire Service and the Midlands Cave Rescue Unit.
