Shropshire Council are challenging local runners to lace up their trainers and try and beat the course record on a scenic off-road run this summer.

Severn Valley Trail Run is a well-established event that is held each June at Severn Valley Country Park near Bridgnorth.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday 12th June with a 5km run at 10am and at 11.30am a 10km run.

The 5km course record is held by an experienced runner from Telford Athletic Club and stands at 19.08 minutes.

Edward Andrews, Parks and Countryside Officer said, “This year we are challenging runners to try and get around the 5km route in less than 19.08 minutes. This is quite a challenge as the route is quite hilly and all off-road! We will have a special prize for anyone who manages to beat the record, as well as the normal prizes for winners of the different age categories. Now is the perfect time to enter the run and start training!”

As well as the 5km route, this year the event will also feature a 10km route through neighbouring farmland and woodland on the banks of the River Severn.
