Kerry Vale Vineyard on the Shropshire/Powys border is pleased to announce the launch date for its new Art Gallery.

The gallery will occupy the room above the vineyard’s cellar door shop and café and will launch on Sunday the 15 March when the café reopens for the season.

The vineyard galley will display a range of artwork from collectable limited edition prints to original paintings. It will include work from emerging and established artists, living locally and further afield, and will celebrate the best in contemporary and traditional art. In general, exhibits are scheduled for a period of four weeks, and may include the work of more than one artist or group shows with up to eight different exhibitions a year.

The first exhibition from Shropshire artist Penelope Timmis will run from 15 March – 27 April this year.

Penelope is a local artisan who lives just 10 miles from the vineyard on a dairy Farm in Worthen. Penelope’s work has been much in demand since her departure from the Froebel Institute in Roehampton. An established painter she exhibits throughout Wales and the West of England. Penelope won best entry with the Royal Birmingham Society of the Arts (RBSA) in 2009 and was shortlisted for the Daily Mail “Not the Turner” prize in 2004. A fellow of the Royal Society Arts (RSA) she supports Shelta Cymru and their art auctions and presented an exhibition for the Prince’s Trust. Penelope is an elected Associate of the Birmingham Society of the Arts and an Associate of the Society of Women Artists. With an instantly recognisable and unique style Penelope aims to reflect the life and colour that she sees in all that inspires her.

In collaboration with Penelope the vineyard will host an ‘Evening with the Artist’ on Saturday 11 April, 6.30 – 9pm. The vineyard would like to invite anyone interested in Art or Penelope’s work to join them for a glass of wine and to meet Penelope and view her work. Limited spaces, please RSVP to Kerry Vale on 01588 620627 by 5 April.

Exhibition Manager Nadine Roach commented “We are looking forward to this interesting new project and believe this will add an extra dimension for those visiting the vineyard – We hope people will respond by visiting us. We are very excited about working with Penny and hope our first Exhibition will be a great success.

She went on to say “The room above our café is modern, clean, and well-lit, which makes it an ideal space to hang and view art. We are currently looking for artists to exhibit later this year and would invite any artists interested in exhibiting to contact us on 01588 620627.”
