
The first flea market, which now take place on the first Saturday of every month, was a great success creating a real buzz in the building.
Monday 16 June sees the return of regular weekly markets to the town, together with a second weekday market on Thursday 19 June as a special one-off to celebrate the Town Hall opening.
The farmers’ market, which has continued throughout the renovation works at an alternative location, returns to its home at the Town Hall on Saturday June 21 as part of the Town Hall’s celebratory opening weekend.
As well as the chance to buy fresh local produce, people can drop in for family craft activities and demonstrations throughout the weekend of June 21 and 22.
Thomasina Carlyle, of the Town Hall Team, said: “Our weekend of celebratory opening events includes something for everyone to enjoy.
“The Town Hall will be open all weekend for people to pop in and check out the new facilities.”
As well as the farmers’ market there will be have a go craft activities on Saturday 21 June from 10.30am to 12.30pm and tours of the building in the afternoon.
People can have a go at calligraphy writing like a town clerk, making flowers or badges and creating rubbings to take home.
On Sunday 22 June, Strictly Come Dancing fans can train like the celebrities and have a go at Fit Steps from 10am to 10.30am, or watch the Revel in Dance street dancers at 10.45am.
There will also be opportunities for people to have a go themselves and take part in drop-in craft activities up to 12.30pm.
During Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 4.30pm, everyone is welcome for join the town hall team for tea and to hear the Bishop’s Castle Orchestra play with further opportunities to look around the building.
The weekend will draw to a close with ‘A Bit of a Do’ with the Men From Off at 7.30pm. Tickets are available on 01588 638375.
The Visitor Information Centre is gearing up for a staged opening over the next couple of weeks, with plans to be open in the week of June 23, while the town clerk’s office is now fully open.
