Training and full briefings will be given so that ‘beginners’ are welcome.

An excavation trench will be dug around a group of former outbuildings including a stable and a wash house. It’s hoped to uncover some interesting archaeology and would like our volunteer diggers to add their comments to a daily Blog which will feature on the Friends website throughout the dig.

A week of post excavation work will begin on Monday 29th April and there will be opportunities for volunteers to be involved in cataloguing and drawing finds, photographic tasks and producing a record of this exciting event.

Volunteers can limit your time to a half day sessions or volunteer for the full two weeks.

The Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings say they will endeavour to offer as many places as possible but places are limited. If you would like to take part contact Fay Bailey on 01743 360213 fay@flaxmill-maltings.co.uk
