All the females who work at Toni and Guy in Shrewsbury will be sporting fake moustaches on each Saturday in November in a bid to raise funds for this international charity.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Lauren Foskett, manager of the Castle Street salon, explained that staff were always willing to support good causes.
“We usually organise events in aid of breast cancer charities but this year we thought we would do something different.
“There are a total of …girls working here and we thought we – and our male colleagues – would wear false moustaches on each Saturday in November to make customers smile and hopefully encourage them to donate to the Movember charity.
“Lots of our male friends take part in the initiative so we thought we would join in – we have had a lot of fun customising our fake facial hair!” she said.
Local businesses, including Morgans, the Olive Tree Bistro, Al Piccolinos and Viking Motors, have also donated prizes for a raffle in aid of the charity and it is hoped that this and sponsorships from customers will help to raise several hundreds of pounds. Customers can also win a free hair style from Toni and Guy in the raffle.
