Make your vote count for good causes in Shrewsbury

As part of the Society’s Community Counts initiative, customers at the branch on High Street can choose one of the three worthy causes shortlisted by staff: Severn Hospice, Headway Shropshire and Taking Part.

The charity which receives the most votes between now and 9 August will be presented with a £500 donation, while the other two will receive £250 each.

Tokens are available at the counter ready for customers to drop into the voting box of their choice.

The West Brom’s branch manager Jayne Tomkinson said: “We really believe in supporting the community and the good causes that do so much to improve the lives of local people.

“The West Brom is a mutual organisation, which means our members have a voice in how their Society is run. Through the Community Counts campaign, they also have a say in the way we direct our support for local charities.”

Severn Hospice provides specialist care for people who are living with complex and progressive illness. Headway Shropshire helps those with brain or head injuries to regain their independence, while Taking Part supports individuals with learning disabilities, improving their self confidence and communication skills.

Further information on the three charities is on display in the West Brom’s Shrewsbury branch.

Community Counts is being rolled out in all West Brom branches over the next 12 months, representing a total charitable fund of £38,000. Funding comes from the Mercian Community Trust, a partnership between the Society and the Diocese of Lichfield.
