7pm Summer evening opening at Attingham Park

0

From now until 30 September 2012, Attingham Park, near Shrewsbury, will increase its opening to 7pm daily.

The park, Walled Garden, Carriage House café and shop will be open from 9am to 7pm seven days-a-week to provide visitors with as much time as possible to enjoy the brighter and warmer evenings. With miles of parkland and riverside walks to enjoy as well as the chance to have a relaxing after work drink or purchase some local produce or gifts in the National Trust shop Attingham Park has become a top visitor attraction in Shropshire.

This time of day is ideal for seeing the wildlife at Attingham such as otters, herons and the deer as they emerge in the evening light; and visitors will also be able to see the pigs and chickens in the Walled Garden as they prepare to settle down for the night.

Dogs are welcome in the grounds at Attingham Park with clearly designated areas along the walks around the park where they can be let off their leads.

Mark Agnew, General Manager, said: “Visitors have always enjoyed the peace, beauty and tranquillity of the park and we are keen that we offer them the opportunity to extend their walks into the early evening so they can make the most of Attingham when we have the light and hopefully warmer weather.

“It’s my favourite time of day to walk through the woodland and we hope visitors will make the most of the opportunity.”

Visitor reception, the parkland, Walled Garden and shop are open from 9am-7pm every day. The mansion is open seven days a week from 11am to 5.30pm until 4 November.

There are tours from 11am to 12.30pm then free flow admission. Last entry to mansion is 4.30pm. Standard admission charges apply, National Trust members and under 5s free.
