In the mid 1800s, Benthall Hall was home to local tile manufacturer George Maw who travelled extensively and collected many plants – including different types of crocus. More than 100 years later, bulbs that are presumed to have belonged to his collection flower annually in the garden.

Visitor Services Manager Emily Knight says: “This is a great place to spend the afternoon, the gardens are looking wonderful at the moment and there is loads to discover about the family in the house. We are also looking for more volunteers to help with the Sunday opening in the house, so please contact the property if you are interested.”

Benthall Hall is open from 1.30pm until 5.30pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until 28 September.

Admission to the house and garden is £5.80 for adults, £3 for children and free for National Trust members.
