Victorian themed floats, walking groups, marching bands and dancers took to the streets of the town centre on Saturday June 18 in Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury Town Crier Martin Wood and Junior Carnival Crier Alex Dolbey led the parade with Mayor Tony Durnell, Carnival Queen Rebecca Wright, Carnival Princess Isabelle Oliver and attendants Lydia Griffiths and Rebecca Prideaux following in horse drawn carriages.
Some of the team from shropshirelive.com also attended the carnival this year and got into the Victorian theme by dressing up in period clothing. Vistors of the carnival could visit the stand and collect a Useful Numbers card, that lists a whole host of contact numbers that would come in handy to Shropshire residents. The team were also recruiting ‘Community Contributers’ , local residents who would like to become Citizen Journalists and feature writers of shropshirelive.com by adding their own unique content.
The Shrewsbury Carnival raised money for local charities and last year raised around £10,000
