The show’s move to the new Citadel Showground has been a huge success and organisers hope 2011 will be a record-breaking event.

The event will be officially opened by Shirley Tart MBE, of the Shropshire Magazine, and will include a variety of attractions including parades of vintage tractors, classic cars, a Shire horse parade, carriage driving, mounted pony club games, North Shropshire hounds and terrier racing.

There will also be a Buccaneer Bomber cockpit for people to sit in, children’s sports with a tug of war competition, and the day will conclude with a grand parade of all the day’s winners.

Chris Dunford, spokeswoman for the show, said: “We will also have a cake stall and a plant stall, there will be something for everyone and we hope it will be a great traditional day out for all.

“The event will raise money for Help for Heroes and the MS Society, money will also go to the church and village hall in Weston Under Redcastle.”

A companion dog show will take place alongside the main attractions, as well as stalls including Pinxton Puppets, Ollie the Organ, and displays of owls and hawks – all washed down with local beers and Pimms. Traditional afternoon teas and cakes will also be served, along with a barbecue.

Admission to the show will be £4 per person, with children under 16 going free. For more information on the flower and vegetable competitions contact John Edwards on (01939) 200235.
