Oswestry Illuminated Tractor Run returns for its third consecutive year this Saturday, 13 December 2025, promising a spectacular display raising funds for Lingen Davies Cancer Support.

One hundred tractors decorated with lights are set to roll out from the Oswestry Livestock Market, continuing the poignant tribute to local young farmer, Will ‘Choc’ Roberts, who passed away from a brain tumour in December 2022, aged just 26.
Will, known to his friends as ‘Choc’ due to his great love of the treat, was a popular figure and former chairman of the Whittington and Oswestry Young Farmers’ Club (YFC).
Raising Vital Funds
The event, which has become a hugely successful annual tradition, is spearheaded by Whittington and Oswestry YFC, Will’s parents Dave and Sue Roberts, and local organiser Mike Lade. Their incredible efforts have previously raised staggering sums for Lingen Davies Cancer Support: £12,000 in 2023 and over £20,000 last year.
This year, all proceeds will once again go to Lingen Davies, the charity that enhances cancer services in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Mid Wales. Will received treatment at the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
A spokesperson for Lingen Davies expressed thanks, noting that the funds will go a long way to supporting the charity’s vital work, including its biggest appeal to date, The Sunflower Appeal, a £5 million initiative to create a new Chemotherapy Centre at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital by 2029.
Festive Fun Before the Roll-Out
The action kicks off at the Livestock Market well before the tractors depart. Visitors can enjoy a lively atmosphere with a bar, a food station, and a tea/coffee stand, with a variety of festive foods and toys on sale throughout the afternoon.
Shropshire Live will also be playing Christmas music and comparing the event.
3:00 pm: Youngsters can take part in a Children’s Pedal Tractor Run inside the cow shed (£5 entry per child). There will be a prize for the best-dressed pedal tractor, and even Santa is expected to drop in!
Santa will also be judging a children’s tractor colouring competition, with prizes for age groups 0-5 and 6-11 years old.
The moment of truth for the adult competitors will be around 4.30 pm, when a panel of VIP judges—including Helen Morgan MP, High Sheriff Jane Trowbridge, and Oswestry Mayor Rosie Radford – will decide which entry will win the coveted ‘Best Dressed Tractor’ prize.
The tractors will complete a lap of honour around the Livestock Market at 4.45 pm before commencing their epic journey.
Route and Times
The convoy of 100 illuminated machines is scheduled to depart the Livestock Market at 5 pm, embarking on a long route through the local countryside.
Residents are encouraged to line the streets to cheer on the convoy, but are reminded to donate safely to the official bucket collectors, who will be easily identifiable by their high-vis jackets, lanyards, and Lingen Davies branded buckets.
