Shrewsbury’s St. Chad’s Church is set to be transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland this December as it hosts its annual Christmas Tree Festival.

Organisers are promising a truly stunning display, confident that the Georgian church will once again be “ablaze with twinkling lights.”

The festival begins on Friday, 19th December and will run daily until Saturday, 3rd January 2026.

Visitors are invited to experience the church filled with a host of beautifully decorated and illuminated Christmas trees, sponsored by a variety of local organisations. Admission is free.

A Spectacle of Themed Trees

The spectacle is a heart-warming tradition, with each tree sponsored and decorated by the generosity of local businesses, charities, community organisations, and families.

Abbi Grainger, Festival Organiser from St. Chad’s, spoke excitedly about the event. “We welcome people to come and enjoy what promises to be a lovely experience in the tranquil atmosphere of our beautiful Georgian church,” she said.

“The Christmas trees are a fabulous spectacle and are decorated in various themes, traditional, quirky, or brand-inspired by the many sponsors from social, charitable, and business organisations! St. Chad’s is really happy to be welcoming them to maintain this heart-warming Christmas tradition.”

Music, Song, and Worship

Throughout the festival’s run, the church will also host an ongoing, diverse programme of Christmas music, song, and dance, adding to the festive atmosphere.
