A festival set to take place in Telford next week is set to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
B-Festival, which will take place at the Clocktower Brewers Fayre pub in Donnington on July 26, will donate all funds to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
The third annual festival is free to attend and will include family entertainment.
Organiser Thomas Whitehouse, from the Clocktower, said: “This year is set to be our best year ever with more acts, actives and prizes donated.
“We hope to raise more money than ever.
“I have been overwhelmed with the support from local businesses and the community all getting involved, giving time and money for such a worthy cause.
“Over the past two years we have raised around £1,500 on the event days in total – this year we hope to raise at least that on the one day alone.”
Mr Whitehouse added that other charity fundraisers are held throughout the year, but the festival is now an annual event which he hopes will grow year on year.
At next week’s event eight men will have their chest, legs and back waxed in aid of the charity, an auction will be held, there will be a tombola of prizes and gifts from local businesses.
One of the prizes is from local business G. N. Badley & Sons Butchers in Trench.
Simon Badley, managing director at the family run firm in Gibbons Road, said he did not hesitate to get involved with the event.
He said: “When I heard about this event I had no questions and simply wanted to get involved.
“It is a great cause and we wanted to donate anything we could which would be of use to the organisers.
“We have supplied a family meat box – one of the specialist products we offer at G. N. Badley & Sons – worth £70 as a competition prize.
“The time and effort the team have put in to make it a success will show on the day and hopefully it will raise hundreds – maybe thousands – of pounds for Great Ormond Street.
“As a local business I feel we all should support local events like this as much as we can as it benefits the local community as well as raising money for a worthy cause.”
The charity fun day will run from 11am to 7pm and entertainment will include music from indie band Brothers of Caedmon, Telford Exotic Zoo, Shropshire Fire and Rescue, The Dragon Order, JOL Photography Booth and many stands and stalls.
