The show entitled “Work In Progress” is in preparation of Lee Evans MONSTERS show which he will be performing over more than 60 nights in the biggest arenas in the country, including Birmingham’s NIA from September 17 to 21.
Billed as his biggest tour to date, Lee’s manic energy, uncanny observations, hilarious delivery and side-splitting material have made his live performances a must-see for comedy fans.
The auditorium was packed full on the warn Sunday evening as Lee thanked the Telford audience for their time as he tested out his latest material. Grabbing a pile of scripts he promised the audience they would be rewarded with a cauliflower rear by the end of the night and he wasn’t wrong after nearly 3 hours of endless audience laughter.
Lee’s comedy observations of life run throughout the show touching on nearly all aspects of daily life from marriage, drinking, dogs, doctors, transport, ageing and of course sex. It is looking at those situations with his bodily animation and sound effects combined that made the evening a real laugh out loud show. Lee’s humour rarely touched on anything that would offend and he often apologised for any jokes that he thought may have been a bit low, but the audience gave him the reaction he was looking for.
The proceedings were made even more comical by a lady near the front who seemed to have uncontrollable high pitched laughter, which he acknowledged a number of times and replying once with “Laughter – it’s the best sound in the world” no one could argue with that!
The evening ended with Lee once again thanking the audience numerous times, adding that whenever he comes to Telford he is always made to feel so welcome and even said he felt emotional after receiving two standing ovations before he left the stage.
It really is great to see such talent coming to Shropshire, even if it is to try out their material – in some ways this is the best time, as you certainly get your moneys worth!
