The event on Friday, March 21, will bring together Wrekin College’s combined choirs, the orchestra and two of the country’s most highly respected singers.

Nationally-renowned soprano Natalie Clifton-Griffith will be one of the guest soloists together with bass Mark Wildman.

Following her success as prize-winner at the London Handel Society Natalie is gaining an enviable reputation for her performances of the Baroque and Classical repertoire.

She has performed at the Symphony Hall, Barbican Hall and as part of the BBC Proms and her operatic work has included recordings with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

As part of preparations for the concert Natalie has visited Wrekin College in Wellington earlier this month where she led a day of master classes.

An international and national prizewinner Mark Wildman’s career began with the BBC Singers. Last year he was appointed as a Professor of the University of London at the Royal Academy of Music.

The concert to be held at the Wrekin College Chapel will be conducted by Director of Music at Wrekin College Francis Murton.

He said the event was the result of a great deal of hard work by pupils and members of the music department and he was delighted to see pupils of all ages taking part.

“We are so thrilled that Natalie and Mark are joining pupils of Wrekin College in this very special production of Joseph Hadyn’s The Creation,” said Mr Murton.

“They are both extremely talented individuals and well-known both nationally and internationally. It has been a wonderful experience for the pupils to be a part of this event with Natalie and Mark taking part. I know there is a great deal of excitement ahead of the actual event and I know it will be a wonderful evening for all those attending.”

Tickets for the performance are £6 and for more information contact the music department on 01952 265625 or they are available from www.wrekinarts.ticketsource.co.uk.
