
The festivities will start with the Carnival King & Queen and their attendants leading a grand procession of decorated floats through the village at 1.30pm from the Punch Bowl pub.
The parade winds its way around West Felton to the playing field on Tedsmore Rd (SY11 4EH) where a full afternoons family entertainment awaits you – just follow the crowd!
This year’s Carnival Queen is Rhiannon Powis and the Carnival King is Josh Olufsen – their attendants are: Abby Nicholas, Ellie Kelsall, Poppy Terry, Emily Walker, Olivia Burke, Kai Hurdman, Rachel McGovern Roe, Oliver Perry, Martha Creaser Ogden, William Davies, Lucy Stokes, Lewis Jones, Beth Terry and Dylan Davies.
“We’re pleased to announce local lad Tim Bamford as this year’s compere – explained Eileen Hamner, the Secretary of West Felton Carnival Committee “plus we can now also confirm the float judges this year are Anna & Ryan Stockbridge and Sarah & Jeremy Millington”.
“This year’s entertainment includes the locally renowned theatrical/choir group the Very Nice Production Company, Hoola-la-Hoop dancers, West Felton School Choir, the Porth-y-Waen Silver Band and the Boreatton Scout Drummers, a Martial Arts Display, a Birds of Prey display” explained Eileen “There’s truly something for everyone, including a caricaturist, a woodcarver, a blacksmith and a basket weaver plus fun fair and mini train ride”. “The gates open at 2pm on the playing field and everyone’s welcome to come along and join in the fun.” She added.
The event will also see a whole array of side stalls and craft stalls, tombola, bric-a-brac stand, bottle stall. Tea, cakes and ice cream are provided courtesy of West Felton Women’s Institute plus a fully-licensed bar, tasty BBQ and the legendary carnival grand draw with a 1st prize of £100.
Admission is £2.00 for adults and free for children and senior citizens with events and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
