Talent Wanted For Shifnal’s Shifting Stage

0

Shifnal Festival, which is being held in September, is running a series of free lunchtime concerts on successive days, which will shift to different locations around the town. The festival’s organisers are looking for people from Shifnal and around Shropshire who want to perform.

“We already have a number of very talented local musicians who are really excited to have this chance to play, including pianists, guitarists and clarinettists,” says festival organiser Sue Blake. “We’re looking for as many musicians as possible – both amateurs and professionals – to take part. We’re planning to keep each of the sets quite short so they can show off their very best pieces.

“The hour-long concerts follow the talent night we ran at last year’s festival, which was really successful and uncovered a lot of hidden flair from in and around Shifnal. This time around we thought we’d do something a little more relaxed and more intimate. People will be able to take a break from their busy schedule by listening to some of the best musical talent Shropshire has to offer over a coffee.”

The first lunchtime concern is on Tuesday 20th September at St Andrew’s Church; Wednesday 21st September at Trinity Methodist, and Thursday 22nd September at St Mary’s. Interest in the concerts has been so high that festival organisers are already considering whether to add a fourth, an open air stage, during the town’s Farmer’s Market on Saturday 16 September.
