Play In A Week will be taking place the week of Monday July 25 and will give participants the chance to take part in fun drama workshops, incorporating everything from acting through to stage management and lighting. Run by Shropshire Youth Theatre, one of the many groups who meet at the Hive on a weekly basis.
On the following week, the centre presents a Giant Puppet making workshop on Tuesday August 2 for young people aged 8-13, where participants will be able to let their imagination run wild creating colourful puppets. The workshop will take place between 10am and 3pm.
An improvisation drama and theatre skills masterclass for ages 13-16 will present the opportunity for people to spend 2 days working with professional actors, advancing acting and performance techniques. The workshop will be taking place on August 3 and 4 and is priced at £35 for both days. Whilst on August 9 and 10, the Hive will host Summer-sound, a two day workshop aimed at ages 8-13, giving young people the chance to write their own songs and compose original music tracks.
Habib Malik-Mansell, Marketing Assistant at the Hive said “For those aged 8-13 who are after something more traditional, there will be a garden crafts workshop on August 16, where participants can design stunning outdoor decorations and make practical items for the garden including bird feeders and lanterns. This will be followed by storytelling and comic book illustration on August 17, when young people can explore magical lands and experiment with different illustration styles. Both workshops promise to be highly enjoyable for all involved!â€

There will be an Eco-fashion workshop taking place on August 30 giving young people the opportunity to make stylish home and fashion accessories with local fashion designer Jo Bloodworth. The exciting customisation workshop is aimed at ages 8-13 and costs £17.50.
The final holiday workshop, woodland craft and music-making, will show participants how to make musical instruments from recycled materials, aiming to inspire with birdsong and natural sounds to compose an original soundscape. Taking place on August 31, the workshop is for ages 8-13.
