Mike and Tom Perry are often found at the Ironworks in Oswestry not least at the weekly Peoples Vinyl Collective (PVC) nights every Wednesday which Tom helps to host along with Neil Phillips of Eclectic. They have also DJ’d at various rock gigs that have been held at the venue.
Mike got together with venue owner Steve Gore and came up with the idea for an occasional free night of rock music to be held once in a blue moon. As it happened, one of Steve’s suppliers has a product called Blue Moon which they have allowed to be used to promote the event and the Once in a Blue Moon rock night was born.
There will be a live Punk band – Do Not Resucitate – from Ludlow playing a mix of classic punk covers as well as their own songs plus the exciting String the Marionette from Welshpool. PerryBros will provide the noise in between bands and long into the night once the bands have played.
Expect to hear everything from classic Black Sabbath on original 1970 vinyl right through to the latest download releases by the likes of Skindred, Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold.
Speaking about the event Mike said, ‘We’re really excited to have our own night at the Ironworks. Tom and I are just two of five brothers and all five of us love it loud. Our music collections span five decades and we’re looking forward to turning the music up to eleven and rocking out.
‘We often go to gigs with friends from Oswestry and we know there is a real passion out there for all things heavy. 10 of us went down to Ludlow not long ago to watch Do Not Resucitate and they were so good we wanted to bring them to Oswestry to play and this is the perfect chance to do just that.’
PerryBros will kick things off at 9pm on Friday 1 July and are offering followers on Facebook the opportunity to pick the tunes that they play during the first hour.
