POP Goes the 80s at Theatre Severn

The spectacular show features over two hours of classic 80s hits from the birth of Electro Pop through the age of soft rock to the flamboyance of the new romantics. Audiences will love reliving the golden age of Footloose, Thriller and Fame, and crazy 80’s fashions are encouraged!

Livin’ On A Prayer, Gold, Holiday, Rio, Smooth Criminal, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun are just a few of the show stopping numbers performed by a talented cast direct from London’s West End. The fun extends to a ‘cheestastic’ host, who appears on a giant video wall.

Pop Goes The 80s is a no-expense-spared production with some breathtaking choreography and a dynamic cast. ‘We love every minute of it,’ says Sheena, ‘and so will the audience.’

“It’s a flamboyant decade which lends itself to reproduction in a theatrical setting.”

‘We’ve worked very hard to re-create what the original artistes did so well in the 80s,” explains Allan.

‘We’ve lots of lavish costumes and some of the changes are very quick indeed,’ adds Sheena. ‘Changing from Madonna into Kim Wilde and then Toni Basil is no mean feat!”

Blackpool-born Sheena has spent the past couple of years playing both Agnetha and Freida in Voulez Vous- ABBA The Story. She has also appeared as Doris Day and Vera Lynn at theatres across the UK, and supported Mark Owen and Billie Piper.

Allan, a musician, has toured extensively across Europe and the US with a wide range of artistes from Def Leopard to Girls Aloud and The Sugababes.

Pop Goes The 80s performs at Theatre Severn on Friday 25th March at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15.50 – £19.50 and are available from the box office on 01743 281 281.
