Alison Ollier, newly-elected president of chartered accountants in Shropshire, Staffordshire and Wolverhampton, has pledged to highlight professional development in the industry.

Shrewsbury-based Ollier thanked Philip Wood who she succeeds as head of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for the region.
The former deputy president, who takes the reins following the passing of the badge of office, said: “The district society will continue its work to support members by offering excellent continuous professional development opportunities.”
Alison assumes the voluntary position alongside her role in the tax department of a Swiss financial services company.
Neil Philips was also appointed deputy president, while John Capper (vice president) and Roger Stephenson (treasurer) will also hold office in 2018-19.
She thanked Neil, John and Roger and outlined plans for the year, which include events to support retired members, celebrate exam success and welcome new members to the ICAEW.
The society meet next at The Moat House Hotel, Acton Trussell on 13 June 2018 at 5:30pm, any member wishing to get involved with the work of the district society is welcome to come along.
