PopUp Pitch in Wellington has been named in the Top 100 small businesses in the UK to be celebrated by Small Business Saturday.

PopUp Pitch is an enterprise that created a 2016 Pop Up events calendar and a barista extension to the traditional market specifically to showcase start-ups and local small businesses.
Popping Up in all sorts of locations and with the dual aim of encouraging shopping with independent entrepreneurs and reviving the town centre, PopUp Pitch has been named in the Top 100 small businesses in the UK to be celebrated by Small Business Saturday, the campaign that culminates in the UK’s dedicated day for small businesses on Saturday 3 December.
Pop-up Pitch events have increased footfall and developed the interest of start-ups to trade in Wellington town centre. Launched by entrepreneur Fay Easton, ‘Pop-up Pitch’ backs the power of local spend and local people to help regenerate their own towns and high streets and the PopUp Pitch concept is among the select number of businesses to be featured by the Small Business Saturday campaign one per day for the 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday itself.
“It’s just great to have our Wellington venture highlighted in the Small Biz Top 100. This year we have tried various formats for our PopUps and at the foundation of all PopUps is the fact that customers want to see, try, smell and taste and ‘Face to Face’ is back -which is a delight for independent traders who are so good at this. Whereas PopUps used to be an optional ‘add on’ for entrepreneurs now it’s a vital element of the business plan. We’re working with local entrepreneurs to help them PopUp to make sales and meet customers’” explains Fay.
“Supporting small, local businesses keeps more money in the local economy and shoppers can directly support their own towns simply by shopping with local traders. This is ‘personality shopping’ where you can meet the seller/producer and it will be in evidence all over town on ‘‘Small Business Saturday. To mark the day this year we’re launching a 2017 calendar of PopUp Events for Wellington Town Centre, featuring everything from fashion, food, art and beauty to technology, health, music and homeware. We’re aiming to back 100 new businesses and provide over 1000 new trading days for local entrepreneurs in the coming year.”
