The British Ironwork Centre, near Oswestry, is proving that the sky’s the limit when it comes to supporting Hope House Children’s Hospices.

The Centre, which is rapidly becoming known as a top tourist destination in Shropshire, has really taken the charity to its heart in 2016 hosting a whole weekend of activities to mark Hope House’s 21st Birthday and coming up with a whole range of other ways to make a real difference.

Major Gifts Manager Vanessa Thomas said: “The Knowles family have been fantastic supporters of Hope House and really understand how essential it is that we raise enough money every year to ensure we can continue to provide vital care and support services to terminally ill local children and their families.

“We were delighted that they were able to host our 21st Birthday Ball and Family Fun Day at the amazing Ironworks site – an event which raised an incredible £60,000.

“This year we have been helped in so many other ways too: we received £1,300 of donations when the Ironworks hosted a Plant Hunters Fair, a British Ironwork Centre garden at the Shrewsbury Flower Show raised another £300 and the Centre’s fantastic initiative to ask for a donation to Hope House from every club visiting for a tour has raised another £600 since it was introduced.

“On top of the fundraising, Clive and his family have done so much to directly help the children who visit Hope House such as opening their incredible Santa’s Christmas Grotto for private visits, and donating a huge bright red metalwork Giraffe as the centrepiece of our new sensory gardens.”

“We are so fortunate to have such an incredible attraction on our doorstep, and very lucky to be their chosen charity for so many different on-going events and initiatives.”
