A team of solicitors from Shrewsbury – including a giant teddy bear – have raised £1,000 for Severn Hospice.
The team from Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors, along with their mascot the LB Bear, raised the cash by competing in the charity’s dragon boat race at Pengwern Boat Club earlier this year.
They recently visited Severn Hospice to present a cheque, and lawyers from Lanyon Bowdler were then given a tour of the hospice and chatted to staff about the care they give to patients.
Elodie Home, fundraising events manager at Severn Hospice, said: “It was lovely to meet some of the Lanyon Bowdler team and show them around our hospice in Bicton.
“We really appreciate them supporting Severn Hospice by taking part in our Dragon Boat Festival and raising £1,000. This year’s event was a great success.
“Severn Hospice provides specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness.
“The care we provide is free of charge, but not without cost, and every year we need to raise around £7 million: we are only able to do this thanks to the kindness and generosity of our supporters.
“By supporting us in this way Lanyon Bowdler is helping to make a huge difference to people’s lives when they need us most.”
Sophie Davies, of Lanyon Bowdler’s business development team, said the firm was delighted to support the work of Severn Hospice.
She said: “The dragon boat race is a fantastic event, which as well as being great fun is a really effective way of raising money for such an important cause.
“Everyone at Severn Hospice was very welcoming and it was really interesting to learn a bit more about their work.”
