A new workshop designed to equip business leaders with efficient and effective management skills to boost productivity and performance is to be held in Shropshire.

The public workshop focusing on Key Management Skills will be held on December 8, at Meeting Point House in Telford.

It will be run by business coach Anita Bickerdike, managing director of Shrewsbury-based people development consultancy Positive Intention.

Mrs Bickerdike, who works with all business sectors championing business growth through leadership and people development, provides bespoke training to enhance leadership and management skills.

She said: “I am passionate about providing high quality training in Shropshire and really excited about putting on this workshop.

“Management skills training is sometimes seen as unnecessary.

“However, most employers would not put an untrained person in charge of a machine so why would you put a person in charge of a team without giving them the people management skills necessary to do the job effectively?

“This workshop addresses all the key areas of management focusing on leadership styles, team dynamics, communication, understanding team ethos and motivation.

“Studies have shown that 43 per cent of UK managers are ineffective.

“That potentially means almost half of those in managerial roles are not performing as effectively as they could if they were given the right skills for the job.

“This workshop aims to change that situation and those attending will benefit from learning how to achieve their overall management objectives, how to manage change more effectively, improve team performance, increase competitive advantage and most importantly support business growth.”

Mrs Bickerdike, who founded her business three years ago, believes all businesses should invest in training to prevent skills shortages and ensure success now and in the future.
