A Telford vehicle hire company is aiming to raise more than £500 for charity in just four weeks.

Bosses at Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals on the Halesfield Industrial Estate have pledged to donate £5 from every rental throughout the month of July to Midlands Air Ambulance.

Michael Jenkins, manager of the depot which opened in April, said with customers travelling hundreds of miles on the road each week it seemed a fitting charity for the business to support.

“We are very fortunate to have a service such as Midlands Air Ambulance covering Shropshire,” he said.

“It is a vital service and helps to save many lives each year.

“We plan to donate £5 from every rental throughout July to the charity and we have set a target of £500.

“We hope our customers will support us and the Air Ambulance by hiring any vehicles they need throughout the month from our Telford depot.

“Each mission undertaken by the air ambulance costs £2,500 but the charity gets no funding from the Government.

“It is totally reliant on donations from the public and local businesses so the money we raise will certainly go a small way to making sure the air ambulance service stays operational.”

Maria Jones, community fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance, said: “Without support from businesses like Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals we wouldn’t be able to carry out the vital life saving service that we do. We wish them every success and are extremely thankful for all their support.”
