One of the region’s leading IT training firms is celebrating success after it teamed up with Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors to host a dedicated seminar aimed at mitigating security threats.

Shropshire-based Imagine Training partnered with the legal firm to host the exclusive event aimed at decision-makers, business owners and executives from across the county, highlighting what they can do to improve their own security systems, and showcasing some of the brand new features available in Microsoft Excel which allow them to gain unique insight into business data, including Excel PowerView dashboards, Excel PowerPivots and Excel PowerMaps.

The event was held at Lanyon Bowdler’s Shrewsbury offices and welcomed over 40 individuals, as well as a number of guest speakers including Karen Turner of Imagine Training, a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Neil Lasher of Fire Eye, an experienced instructional designer and expert in cyber security, and Dr Adam Chester of Prodeceo Training Solutions, who also lectures IT at the University of Warwick.

Karen Turner of Imagine Training explained: “We’re thrilled to have been involved in this seminar – it was a really engaging and informative event, enabling businesses to learn more about how they can utilise their data, as well as a humorous – but impactful – take on what is the serious topic of cyber security.

“We used the opportunity to demonstrate some of the impressive techniques and methods in which individuals can manipulate their data so that they can really understand – and make use of – what it shows them. This is something that we at Imagine Training are extremely passionate about – we’re responsible for training thousands of staff not just here in Shropshire, but across the UK, so it was a great to give guests insight into how these new features work, and ultimately help them to get more from the software they already have available at their fingertips.”

The event covered some of the issues facing Shropshire businesses, including how to tackle security infringements, as well as the importance of training staff to achieve more effective results from technology, and was also attended by Lanyon Bowdler’s IT Manager Robin Thain, and Managing Partner David Battisby.

Amanda Jones, Head of Marketing at Lanyon Bowdler, added: “This event was a huge success and the feedback we received from the guests was very positive, proving to be thought-provoking and interesting. We’d like to thank Karen Turner, Dr Adam Chester, and Neil Lasher for supporting this event with talks on their respective areas of expertise, and we hope to host another of its kind in the near future.”
