Maesbury Canal Festival Committee visited the British Ironwork Centre, Oswestry, for support in creating a spectacular event for its many predicted visitors, and were delighted when they were quick to agree to help.
The festival, which takes places on 6-7th September marking the fourth running of the event, is the result of a collaboration between the Friends of Montgomery Canal and the Shrewsbury and North Wales branch of the Inland Waterways Association. Following on from previous years’ successes, the committee are working hard to ensure that the weekend is enjoyable and educational for all. This year’s attractions include a range of children’s “WOW”or Wild About Water activities, an exotic zoo featuring meerkats and Cracker will be on hand to provide horse-drawn boat trips.
The British Ironwork Centre, which is widely known for its support of community events and organisations, will be providing a range of items including a beautiful pavilion to enhance the visual appearance of the festival.
Kenny Anthonisz, the Centre’s Spokesman, said “It has been a pleasure to welcome the Committee and to learn of their work protecting and promoting our waterways. We were keen to offer our support, particularly when we heard that the Committee were working hard to top the success of their last event!”
“We wish all involved every success for what will be a fabulous event – we hope as many people as possible turn out to support them and enjoy the day!”
