The MP contacted Positive Advertising following the recent win of their first overseas contract and a subsequent business article published by regional media. He invited them to his office at the Houses of Parliament to discuss the future opportunities available and how he might be able to help.
Positive Advertising secured the international contract, initially worth £40,000, with one of the largest Insurance Brokers in Colombia, Omaguir Ltda, based in Bogotá. The Latin American brokerage is also the main agent for multi-national Spanish insurance company, Mapfre, who have representation in 40 countries, across five continents and Nick will be meeting the Vice-President of Mapfre, Colombia when he returns there at the end of December.
Positive Advertising, who beat two other agencies for the work, will commence with the modernisation of the branding and then move onto the digital marketing strategy – which includes a new responsive website build – the official launch, of which, will be in 2014.
Positive Advertising is being aided by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), the government department responsible for helping companies to export goods and services abroad. Mr Kawcynski, who recently wrote a report on the effectiveness and value of UKTI, and hosted the visit to Shropshire earlier this month by Nick Baird, the Chief Executive of UKTI, said “I am passionate about exporting – as Britain has world class products and services that there is demand for the world over, so I was, therefore, exceptionally pleased, to hear that Positive Advertising, based in Shrewsbury, had won such a significant contract in Colombia and, even more so, that they have been helped by UKTI West Midlands. The support they have received along with beneficial funding has helped to secure the contract.”
Nick Spiteri, managing director of Positive Advertising said; “Exporting goods and services from small businesses, especially from rural Shropshire, is never easy and needs expert guidance and assistance. When we approached UKTI, about developing a new business contact in Colombia, we were somewhat sceptical that we could expect much proactive support or interest. However, they offered a fast service and great support and did not swamp us in the sort of ‘red tape’ we had expected.”
“It was a real pleasure to meet, Nick Spiteri, in the House of Commons” added Mr Kawcynski, “and I would like to commend him and his team on their excellent work.”
