Established in 1996, the club comprises ten teams from U13 to U18 boys, men’s elite, women’s and the Warriors Wheelchair. The U15s compete in West Midlands’ league and play every week between October and February.

Saxonby is a keen advocate of sport sponsorship, currently supporting The Shrewsbury & District Evening Cricket League, and as director Andrew Copson explains, basketball is something different for the company. He said: “We like to do things a little bit different at Saxonby so when this opportunity arose, we jumped at the chance. No pun intended! The Shropshire Warriors has a number of teams, encouraging young people, men and women as well as those with disabilities to get involved, which Saxonby wholeheartedly endorses. We wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season.”

Russell Hales, spokesperson for Shropshire Warriors U15s, said: “We are pleased to be associated with Saxonby. Although exciting and inclusive, basketball in the UK still has a way to go to achieve, for example, the recognition and mainstream popularity it does in the USA, so all support, whether financial or promotional, or both, is very helpful.”
