Tracey Thomas, of Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, is one of the latest mums to join the Usborne Books Shropshire team – which has more than tripled in size in the last year.
Usborne Books at Home is a community of independent organisers who sell Usborne books at home parties, fairs and nurseries and schools throughout the UK and Europe.
Rhea Alton, a mum of one from Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, said: “Tracey joined my team along with Kath Saunders, a mum of two from Telford Estate in Shrewsbury, and both of them have now recruited more mums to be part of our team.
“When you have children you realise how enjoyable reading with them can be, and how much reading helps them to learn. Because Usborne books start from as young as newborns and go up to novels for teenagers it is something I can do throughout my little boy’s childhood – and of course as an organiser with lots of benefits he has access to all of the wonderful books.
“My little boy George was two at the end of January and he is a right little chatterbox who can read basic words already – I cannot wait to start teaching him to read properly!”
Kate L’argent, divisional leader based in Shropshire, said many of the recruits are new mums who are looking to boost their income while on maternity leave, or while being a stay-at-home mum with their youngsters.
“An organiser can be any age and work as much or as little as they want and I think that is the great appeal for mums,” she added.
“And the great thing about mums is that they can watch how much their children enjoy, and learn from, Usborne Books and they pass their enthusiasm onto others.”
Tracey is now looking forward to attending some of the county’s popular annual events with her books including the Shrewsbury Regatta on May 11 and 12 and the Shropshire County Show on May 25.
She said: “I hope people will come along and say hello,I will have lots of lovely books for everyone to look at and am happy to chat to anyone who may be interested in joining our growing team.”
