The #focusonmarketing seminars, run by Telford-based small business marketing specialist Claire Dowdall, have been taking place across venues in Shropshire and Wolverhampton for 18 months. And now they are coming to the Pop Up Shop in Newport.

The seminars are open to owners of small businesses from any discipline who want to take their business forward and learn about how marketing can help. With a relaxed and informal feel, attendees can learn and share ideas in a low pressure environment and create a supportive community to meet regularly.

Says Claire, “The #focusonmarketing seminars began life in Shrewsbury in Summer 2011 and have spread across Shropshire and Wolverhampton since. The people who come know the importance of marketing to their business, but may lack the skills, knowledge and budget to get it done. They also enjoy learning from each other without feeling they have to know all of the answers.

The #focusonmarketing hashtag also allows businesses to get an insight via Twitter, as tips and discussions are shared live from every event.”

The next venue to be added to the portfolio is the Pop Up Shop in Newport. Started and run by Tim Pryce, the venue contains 35 independent local businesses under one roof, offering the opportunity to reach a wider market and grow their sales. There is also a coffee bar with home-baked cakes and information on news and events in and around Newport.

Tim says, “I’m delighted that #focusonmarketing is coming to Newport, and it fits really well with how I want the Pop Up Shop to support our retailers to grow. Marketing is often what people need most help with so it’s great that businesses in Newport can have access to some advice from Claire and advice from others similar to them.”

The next event takes place on Tuesday 12th March, 7:30pm at the Pop Up Shop on Wellington Road in Newport. Each meeting has a theme, and this time it’s ‘Social Marketing’. Spaces cost £10 per person and can be booked by emailing Claire at hello@clairedowdall.co.uk or visit http://clairedowdall.eventbrite.com for more information.
